  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh
  • His father’s name was Shri. Krishna Bihari Vajpayee and mother’s name was Krishna Devi.
  • His father was a poet and school teacher by profession.
  • He completed his early education from Swarajya School and completed graduation from Laxmibai College.
  • He got his MA in Political Science from DAV College of Kanpur.
  • Vajpayee did not marry.
  • Vajpayee first participated in the Quit India Movement in 1942 and he had to go to jail for 23 days.
  • He contested for the first time in 1955 but lost it.
  • After this, he won the first Lok Sabha election in 1957 from Balrampur.
