Chief Minister Raman Singh launches online pension system

  • Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Dr. Raman Singh launched an online portal and mobile app called ‘Aadhar-Your Service’ for the state pensioners.
  • Through this app and website, 80,000 pensioners of the state will receive all information related to online pension and payment.
  • Updates will be provided to the beneficiaries regarding the status of their pension account through SMS.

Passed RTE amendment bill in Lok Sabha

  • The Lok Sabha passed the Free and Compulsory Child Education Right to Act (Second Amendment) Bill 2017 which allows students of the school to stop in Classes 5 and 8.
  • The original RTE Act has determined that no child recruited in any school will be stopped in any class or will not be expelled from school until the completion of elementary education.
  • The original RTE Act was implemented on April 1, 2010.

Amazon valued at $ 900 billion

  • Amazon’s stock market value reached $ 900 billion for the first time in its 20-year history.
  • It has now become the second company after Apple to achieve this achievement.
  • By July 18, 2018, Amazon.com’s current market value is $ 902 billion.
  • Apple is currently the world’s most valued company with a market cap of $ 935 billion.

India is the fastest growing economy in Asia: ADB

  • Asian Development Bank (ADB) said in a new report that despite the new business tension in Asia and the Pacific region, South Asia will be the fastest growing economic sector under the leadership of India.
  • The report entitled “Asian Development Outlook” has been published by ADB.
  • The ADO, which was published in April, said that India’s economic growth will be 7.3% in this financial year and 7.6% in the next financial year.

Cabinet revised section 376 of IPC

  • The cabinet has approved a bill to increase the punishment for rape, in which the girls of less than 12 years of age will be sentenced to death.
  • This bill amends section 376 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Protection of Child Sexual Abuse Act (POCSO Act) 2012 and Criminal Procedure Code.
  • Bill will extend the minimum penalty for rape from the existing 7 years to 10 years.

Turkey removed emergency after 2 years

  • The situation of emergency declared in Turkey after the failed coup two years ago ended on July 19.
  • President Rajab Tayyab Erdogan had announced an emergency on July 20, 2016, five days after the battleships attacked Ankara and the conflict in Istanbul, in which 249 people were killed.
  • Under the Turkish constitution, emergency provisions lasted for three months, which was extended seven times.

World’s largest free trade deal between EU, Japan

  • The European Union and Japan signed a vast Free Trade Agreement, which reduces or eliminates tariffs on almost all items.
  • This agreement covers 600 million people and about one-third of the global economy. It will remove the tariff on European exports like cheese and wine.
  • Japanese companies and electronics firms will face fewer constraints in the European Union.

Punjab Public Service Rules abolished

  • The Punjab State Government dissolved the Public Service Commission’s rights which were made by the former SAD-BJP government under the Punjab Public Service Rules of 2011.
  • The Act was replaced by the Punjab Transparency and Accountability in Delivery of Public Services Act, 2018.
  • To provide citizen services through service centers, the Right to Service Act (RTS) was established by former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Cabinet clears MoU on aviation with BRICS

  • The Union Cabinet approved the signing of MoU between BRICS countries on regional aviation participation.
  • The aim of the government is to take advantage of BRICS countries to establish an institutional framework for the corporate sector in the field of aviation.
  • The MoU has the potential to increase trade, investment, tourism among the BRICS nations.

Dwayne Johnson highest paid actor

  • With the earning of Rs 850 crores, Dwayne Johnson has been nominated for the highest paid actor by Forbes.
  • It is the highest total for earning Forbes in the 20-year history of Forbes Celebrity 100 list.
  • He is ranked fifth on Forbes Best Entertainers list.
  • Dwayne doubled the total of $ 65 million announced in the 2017 list.

Government announces capital investment in 5 PSB

  • Under the Rainbow Scheme, the government has announced an investment of Rs 11,336 crore in five public sector banks.
  • Five banks are Punjab National Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Andhra Bank, Corporation Bank and Allahabad Bank.
  • Rainbows are planned for the recapitalization of PSBs, to ensure that they remain solvent and follow Basel-3 global capital adequacy norms.

IOC added 7 Medal events to 2022 Winter Games

  • The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has added seven medal events to 2022 Beijing Winter Games.
  • The next Winter Olympics will now include: Organizing a mixed team in Monobob, Men’s and Women’s Big Air Freestyle Skiing, Short Track Speed Skating, Ski Jumping, Ski Aerial, and Snowboardcross.
  • Women’s ice hockey will include two more teams, which will make it 10-nation lineup.

The 10th edition of Delhi Talks in New Delhi

  • The 10th edition of the Delhi Dialogue began in New Delhi.
  • The theme of the event is ‘Strengthening India-ASEAN Marine Collaboration’.
  • Political leadership, officials, diplomats, business leaders, thinkers and academicians of India and ASEAN member countries participated in the program.
  • The League of Southeast Asian Nations is a group of 10 secretaries, who are General Secretary Mr. Lim Jok Hoi.

Meeting of first government-sponsored transgender poets

  • A meeting of India’s first government-sponsored poets was organized for the Transgender Community at the Sahitya Akademi in Kolkata.
  • The meeting of ‘Transgender Poets’ was presided over by Principal Manabhi Bandopadhyay, the first Transgender College of India.

In the event, each poet was given about 15 minutes to read his poem.

RBI launches new note of Rs 100

  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will soon issue new notes of Rs.100 / – with the base color of purple.
  • According to the new policy on theme-based currency notes, the new 100 rupee note will be the image of the Queen-ki-Vav (Queen’s Bouquet) of Gujarat.
  • The new 100 rupee note will be slightly larger than 10 rupees and its weight will be lower than the old note and it will be printed by the banknote press located in Dewas.

IAF “Pitch Black” War Practice

  • Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in the multinational “Pitch Black” war practice for the first time in Australia.
  • For biennial exercises, the IAF team will include 4 Su-30 MKI Filters, C-130 Special Operations Aircraft, and C-17 Transporter.
  • Pitch Black is hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and in this, eight other countries will participate with more than 100 planes.
